Adding Dependencies to Forms

You can add Dependencies to a form to streamline workflows and decrease manual schedule management. Dependency rules can prevent opening a scheduled form, and automatically clear schedules for forms.

Dependencies can be added to a form in the Ready for Scoring/SPN Setup or Online sections of the Standard Forms Library.

There are two options for Dependencies:

  1. If a ‘linked/child’ form is due within XX days of the scheduled due date for the ‘parent’ form, then you are prevented from opening the ‘linked/child’ form. For example, a Comprehensive Wound Form may be completed monthly, with the Weekly Wound Form also being completed. If they appear on the UDA schedule around the same date, the completion of the Comprehensive can disable the Weekly Wound Form.

  2. If the ‘parent’ form is created with a specified form type, then all existing schedules for the ‘linked/child/parent’ form are cleared. For example, if a resident is readmitted from hospital, and a Comprehensive Wound Form is required, the Weekly Wound Form can be automatically cleared from the UDA schedule based on the form type of Re-Entry.

  1. Click on the form name.

  2. Click dependencies.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • Option 1 - Click magnifying glass for Choose a form > select the ‘linked/child’ form > click Update > enter number of days > select Prevent opening a scheduled linked form > click Save.

    • Option 2 - Click magnifying glass for Choose a form > choose the ‘linked/child’form > click Update > select Clear all existing schedules for the linked form and select the form type (for example, Reentry) > click Save.

  • If a form schedule is disabled due to a dependency rule, this is indicated in the Next Form Due section of a resident's Forms tab.

  • If a form schedule is being cleared due to a dependency rule, this is indicated in a message when locking the parent form.
