Managing Admin Chart Codes 

You can set up charting codes for your medication administration records (MAR), for staff to select the actions taken during medication administration. These chart codes appear on the printed administration record as the numeric value assigned and chart codes are selected by staff to document in eMAR or the paper MAR. 

Note

It is recommended to keep admin record chart codes to a list of 11 or less. 11 chart codes appear on the paper MAR when printed. All other chart codes appear on the last page of the paper MAR in a legend if printed.

Note

In a multi-community organization, this must be setup at the Management Console level. Then use the communities link to select which communities can use that item.

  1. Do one of the following: 

    • Single community: Care Services > Setup > Orders > Pick Lists > Admin Record Chart Codes

    • Multi-community: Management Console > Standards > Care Management > Physician Orders > Pick Lists > Admin Record Chart Codes

  2. Multi-community: Click communities > select communities > Click > Save.

  • Apply to All Meds If selected, you can apply the chart code to all remaining scheduled administrations due to be given on the shift.

  • Allow Partial Administration - If selected, you can indicate in eMAR the amount of the dose administered for a particular chart code. 

  • Short Description - This is what appears on the printed eMAR.

  • There is no chart code for 'administered', it is automatically available in eMAR for selection.
