Overview of Service Package Management Setup

Service Package Management provides flexible setup options to automate tracking and billing for care services using:

  • Tiered packages containing customer-defined levels of care.

  • Points based packages.

  • A la carte services.

You can use one or any combination of these methods. The setup you are required to complete depends on the methods you use.

To use Levels or Points Based Service Packages

  1. You create service charge codes to associate the to service packages. If you have services you want to track and not charge, you add the services to the Non-billable Services Pick List.

  2. You create service package categories to define service packages for Service Levels or Points based billing.  You can setup standard levels and points service packages at Management Console, and then simultaneously activate service packages for multiple communities

To use Service Package Management you enable Service Packages at each community. You can select the options for billing resident service packages applicable in each community:

    • Service Package Recurring Charge Options for Frequency and other census-related activity.

    • If you generate service packages from forms, approval requirements and effective date options for service change notifications.

  3. To automatically bill for tasks and interventions documented through Point of Care (POC), you associate charge codes to tasks or interventions. POC type ancillary batches are automatically created, and if you use Points Based Billing, you can use POC to automatically calculate services received in excess of the service package allowed amount.

  4. After you enable Service Packages, review the Service Package rates at each community to ensure accuracy and apply the rates. Managing Service Package Category rates is similar in concept to managing rates in Payer Rules and Rates Schedules.

  5. You can create Service packages manually, however to maximize efficiency and accuracy, use custom forms to automatically create service packages.   Forms can trigger scores associated to Service Levels, and Points Type Service Package Categories:

    1. In Care Services setup, create form scoring ranges and scoring categories.

    2. In Billing setup, define whether a assessment score triggers Service Levels or Points type charges and associate Score Ranges to the appropriate service level. For Points billing, associate the Score to the Points Service Package Category and define the number of score points equal one unit of the charge code.

When you sign and lock the form, the score determines the service level or points charges. A service package or notification is automatically created in the resident record.
