New Cross-Community Conversations 

Cross-Community Conversations can be started from within the Home > My Conversations area or the quick link icon in the username header area. Cross-Community Conversations are secure conversations without the needing to select a resident name and that can go to participants across multiple communities within the organization.

If your organization is enabled for, and you have security permission to start a Cross-Functional Conversation, you see the option when clicking to start a New conversation.

  1. Do one of the following: 

    • From Home > My Conversations > New .

    • From Care Services Dashboard > All Conversations > New.

    • From Quick Link Message Bubble by username > (+) New.

  2. Hover over New and select Cross-Community Conversation.

  3. Enter Subject.

  4. Enter Participant(s) names and select the participants you want to receive this message.

  5. Click Start Conversation.

  6. Enter message into box as needed.

  7. Click Send.

  8. Click X to close, '-' to minimize the conversation window. All selected participant(s) receive the message(s).

  • The Participant must have access to the type of conversation you are starting, an error message is received when attempting to Start Conversation. Participants can also include user groups.

  • To join an existing conversation, select the join conversation link.

  • When entering Subject, avoid including PHI as notifications on mobile devices can include the Subject line.

  • Photos can be sent in the conversation and are viewable by participants based on security.

  • Each sent must be less than 500 characters. If a message is more than 500 characters, the text is cut off.

  • Typing '%%%' in the Participant(s) field shows a full list of all Participants that can be added to the conversation.

  • This conversation is visible for Participants in all Secure Conversations-enabled communities they have access to.

  • To have Cross-Community Conversations, you must have appropriate security permissions to Cross-Community Conversations in addition to General Conversations.

    • Home module > General Conversations = Read/Add or higher and Cross-Community Access = Yes

  • You must have access to the All Conversations to create a General Conversation from this area.

    • Clinical module > Clinical Dashboard (parent header) > All Conversations = Yes.

  • Cross-Community Conversations are available in enabled multi-community organizations where Secure Conversations is enabled in at least two communities.
