Adding Rules to a Question

After questions are added to a form, you can add rules for certain question types. Rules can improve consistency and workflow within a form.

There are several rule types.

  • Error - The response must be amended before the form can be locked.

  • Disable - The response disables another question. The question appears, but a response cannot be selected.

  • Show/Hide - The response causes another question to appear.

  • Warning - The response must be amended or the warning must be acknowledged before the form can be locked.

  • Autopopulate - The response autopopulates a response to another question within the form (including a multi-section form).

  1. Click edit for the form

    • If in a multi-section form, click edit for the section you want to add a question rule to.

  2. Click rules for the question > select Rule.

  • The rules link for the question turns red after a rule is added.

  • When printing a form in the Standard Forms Library, questions appear with (S) if they are part of a Show/Hide rule.
