Managing POC Auto Generated Batches

When the setup is complete for POC charges to be created from POC task and interventions, the system auto generates ancillary batches on a daily basis. POC service times are converted to units for Charge codes setup with the POC measure set By Actual Time. For example, if the POC service minutes per unit of charge code is set to 15 minutes and the service for specific charge code is 16 minutes for a resident, the system charges for 2 units. (1 unit for the first 15 minutes and another unit for the next minute.)

The Point of Care (POC) Billing Job includes all unbilled tasks you document within the job start and end dates. If you document a task late, it is still charged. For example,

  1. You completed a task on 2/5 and did not document POC.

  2. The POC Billing Job for the week of 1/31 - 2/6 is complete and the task is not billed.

  3. The next POC Billing Job starts on 2/7 and ends on 2/13.

  4. You document the task on 2/8 with Effective Date, 2/5. The Effective Date is before the POC Billing Job start date, 2/7.

  5. The task is unbilled, and the POC Billing Job starting 2/7 includes and bills the task.

  1. From the Billing, click Ancillary Batches. Nightly auto generated ancillary batches are created for POC tasks and interventions that are entered for the resident at the point of care, based on the mapped charge codes and setting for Service Package Billing. The Description for POC type ancillary batches, shows as Services for [current date] (Example: Services for 7/21/2014).

  2. To review the Batch Error Report for specific errors in the batch, select the error link .

  3. To view the Ancillary batch report if required, select the print link.

  4. To review and make any necessary changes to the batch, select the edit link.
