Copying an MDS 2.0 Assessment

You can copy any MDS Assessment Record, which takes a copy of that assessment and opens a new assessment with all of the copied responses pre-populated into the copied assessment record, making completing the MDS assessment record more efficient for you. You are responsible for reviewing the MDS assessment record to ensure that answers requiring changes are changed per RAI-MDS 2.0 coding rules.

  1. From a Resident Clinical Chart, click MDS tab.

  2. Click copy next to the applicable MDS Assessment Record.

  3. In the Reason for Assessment window, select and enter the appropriate information for your Assessment Record type.

  4. Select to Refresh resident information from profile, weights & vitals and UDAs.

  • Depending on which Reason for Assessment is selected, various fields and options appear.

  • If RUG Optimizer is enabled, you can click in the Reason for Assessment popup to view the RUG Optimizer.

  • Refreshing resident information from profile, weights and vitals and UDAs ensures that based on the ARD entered the most recent information from the resident record is pulled into this copy of the MDS assessment record.

  • Depending on facility configuration, you may see options to Generate New Register Number in the Reason for Assessment window.

  • Generate New URI only appears when the applicable Reason for Assessment is selected.

  • If Reason for Assessment = Admission assessment (required by day 14), then you can select whether a Face Sheet, Full Admission Assessment or Both Face Sheet and Full Admissions Assessment are created.
