Possible Duplicate Medication Warning

When entering a pharmacy order into PointClickCare, if there is a potential duplicate of that medication already in the system for that resident, an warning icon appears next to the Medication field. Click the icon about the possible duplicates that exist for this order.

When you save the order, you see a warning stating that the system has identified a possible duplicate order for the resident and to ensure that you review these duplicates before proceeding. These warnings help to prevent duplicate orders or overdose situations.

  1. From a new Pharmacy order, enter in a medication that exists and is currently active on the resident's chart.

  2. View and click the warning icon that appears next to the Medication field.

  3. Save the order.

  • Other warnings can appear related to the medication order as well.

  • You must have appropriate security permissions to create orders.
