New Resident-centric Conversation

You can create conversations for a single resident and multiple participants in a secure manner between health professionals. You can create a New Conversation from the following areas of Secure Conversations:

  • Home tab - My Conversations

  • Quick Link - Username Header

  • Clinical Dashboard - All Conversations (security dependent)

  1. From any of the available areas, click New and click Resident-Centric Conversation.

  2. In Related to Resident field, type a Resident name.

  3. In Participant(s) field, type a Secure Conversations user.

  4. Click Start Conversation. The conversation window opens. Type your message at the bottom.

  5. Click the Camera icon to add a photo. Select a file and insert.

  6. Click Send.

  7. Click X to close - or elsewhere the screen to minimize the conversation window. All selected Participant(s) receive the message(s).

  • Only a single resident can be selected, while multiple participants can be selected to take part in a conversation.

  • If you create a new conversation through the Quick Link Icon while in a resident chart, it auto-populates the Related to Resident field.

  • The participant must have access to Secure Conversations to be selected. Participants can also include user groups.

  • Only users with access to the resident can have a conversation about that resident. Also, only users with access to the resident selected can be selected as a Participant. Example: a physician who cannot access a resident chart in PointClickCare is not permitted to have a conversation about that resident.

  • To join an existing conversation, select the join conversation link.

  • Photos sent in the conversation are viewable by participants.

  • There is a maximum of 500 characters in each message sent. Beyond that limit, the text is cut off.

  • Typing '%%%' in the Participant(s) field provides a list of the first twenty Participants that can be added to the conversation.

  • You must have appropriate security permissions to Resident-centric Conversations.

    • Home module > My Conversations = Read/Add or higher.
