Creating a New Recipe

This screen contains settings for Recipe Builder for adding a new recipe. You can enter in the recipe name, category, original # of portions, serving size and unit, serving temperature, serving utensils, notes, prep time, and cook time.

Set up Serving Utensils and Serving Temperatures before adding a new recipe. See Serving Utensils and Serving Temperatures for more information.

  1. Production > Recipe Builder.

  2. Click Add New Recipe.

  • Recipe Name - Keep name short and descriptive. You can use special characters.

  • Recipe Number - Auto populates after the recipe name is entered.

  • Category - List is from the Menu Item Categories.

  • Original # of Portions - Type information.

  • Servings/Pan - Servings per pan value should only be entered if you want the recipe to be scaled by that value when resized. For example, you cannot scale a cake to an exact number of portions, it must be scaled by 12 because a pan makes 12 servings. 

  • Serving Size/Unit - If you enter in a serving size, you must enter a unit.

  • Serving Temp - List based on serving temperatures setup.

  • Serving Utensil - List based on serving utensils setup. You can select more than 1 serving utensil.

  • Recipe Note -Type information.

  • Prep Time - Type information.

  • Cook Time - Type information.

  • Pre-purchased - If selected, indicates the recipe is pre-purchased ready made and you do not want a Scaled Recipe report to print from the Production Worksheet. 

  • Recipe Name edit Link - Select option to edit recipe name, category, # of portions, servings per pan, serving size, temperature, or utensils, recipe notes, prep and cook time, and pre-purchased option.

  • Menu item Links - Menu Items linked to the recipe. You need your menu items to be linked to a recipe to print various recipe reports.

    1. Select menu item(s).

    2. Click > to move from Available Menu Items to Linked Menu Items.

    3. Click < to move from Linked Menu Items to Available Menu Items.

  • After you create the recipe, you can start adding recipe details in the ingredients section. See Creating and Managing Recipe Details for more information.

  • It can be easier to duplicate and modify an existing recipe if it is similar to a recipe you are going to create. You can duplicate a recipe by clicking Duplicate on the Recipe Listing page.

  • Click pencil icon next to the recipe name to edit the Recipe information.

  • Adding a Serving Temperature in the directions is optional.

  • Click Legend to see a descriptions of the different icons used in the recipe page.

  • Click Change Photo to open file on your computer to upload recipe photo. Before adding a photo to your recipe, the recipe must be uploaded into your computer. Photo must be .jpeg and no more than 10 MG.
