Receiving Supply Messages (Electronically) Quick Reference Guide
Integrated Medication Management

This quick reference guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to receive medication supplies from the PointClickCare web application. This action is available to users with appropriate security permissions to do so. Users can receive supplies through the Pharmacy Orders Portal in the web application or the eMAR module.

Step

Action

1.

From within the Pharmacy Orders tab in the Orders Portal in the PointClickCare application, or from the eMAR Orders Portal, go to the Waiting To Be Received tab.

2.

Place your cursor in the scan supply field and aim your scanner at the barcode label. Ensure the red beam for your scanner is in the center of the barcode and click the button on the scanner. The barcode appears in the box on screen.

3.

After the barcode isn scanned, the Link Supplies screen appears.

  1. Carefully review the Supply/Medication received from the pharmacy.

  2. Select the box to link the supply to the correct orders. Potential matches show ALL active orders for the same drug classification. The supply should ONLY be linked to the order for the supply/medication dispense.

  3. If there are no potential matches, or you cannot find the order, click on All Pharmacy Orders to view the order history.

  4. After the correct order is selected, click Link Order to receive/link the supply and update the status of the order to On Hand.

Note: If the supply is an exact match to the order, it is automatically linked, and the window closes. The total number of supplies on the Waiting To Be Received tab are reduced. If multiple supplies are dispensed for the same Barcode/RX, a window shows the number of medication supplies. Verify all supplies listed in the window match what was sent in the tote, then select the Receive Supplies and the Link Supply window closes.

4.

If the supply does NOT match the order, select Follow-Up Required to move the message to the Follow-Up tab, or Return to Pharmacy if you do not want to link the supply to any order.

Note: Follow-Up is a temporary action. After the follow up is complete, the supply must be received and linked to the order, or marked as return to pharmacy. Return to Pharmacy does not send a message to the pharmacy. You must follow the pharmacy instructions for returning the supply.
