Managing Scoping

If your organization is a multi-facility chain, your PointClickCare system administrator can assign specific organizational scope to some functions and items within the application. Specifying a level of organization determines where a specific function or configuration within the application can be viewed or applied.

PointClickCare works in a hierarchical management process so that setting scope for higher levels includes those levels at the top of the hierarchy and below. Some listed items are color coded in PointClickCare to indicate the levels of scoping.

  • If an item or function is used in all facilities across the organization, scope to Corporate. PointClickCare recommends to scope items to Corporate whenever possible.

  • Some inter-related features, such as Payers and Task Library, only work properly if scoping hierarchy is set up correctly for each function. Information on specific requirements are available in Configuration Help Files.

  • After scoping is applied to an item, it cannot usually be scoped down, but can be scoped up as long as there are no lower scope dependencies. For example, a corporate intervention cannot be assigned to a LOB or facility level focus.
