Bank Reconciliation Overview

You can reconcile bank statements by using the financial information entered in the GL/AP module. This is done in a batch process where you validate that all checks, deposits and other bank transactions are recorded. As you perform the bank reconciliation in PointClickCare, you clear items including journal entry adjustments by checking them off the list. After the Statement Difference is at $0.00, the Post option appears and you can post to close the Bank Reconciliation.

Important

Ensure that there are no further transactions before you post the Bank Reconciliation for the month. You cannot reopen a posted bank reconciliation.

You can perform bank reconciliations for any bank account set up in the system. You can begin the bank reconciliation process one day and complete the process another day when more data is available. After you complete and post the bank reconciliation, the system shows outstanding checks and deposits in transit in the Bank Reconciliation window for the subsequent month. You must reconcile the current bank record before creating and reconciling the next month's bank record.

  • Outstanding checks or deposits in transit from the old system must be brought forward into PointClickCare. This is a one-time journal entry recording. After you close the go-live month, the system tracks any outstanding checks or deposits.

  • When you are adjusting the debits and credits, you can enter individual journal entries or group many entries as a single entry.

  • You can clear bulk and single journal entries during the bank reconciliation batch process the same as you clear opening balances and any other outstanding items.
