Completing MDS Configuration

This screen contains configuration settings for MDS 2.0.

  1. Clinical > Setup > MDS Configuration.

General Options

  • Enforce Profile Consistency? - Select option. If Yes, this enforces consistency between the resident's Demographics screen and the MDS. Click rules to select MDS questions. If selected, the field must be amended in the resident's Demographics screen, then refreshed in the MDS. If not selected, the field can be amended in the MDS.

  • Enable Notes? - Select option. If Yes, a notes link appears for each MDS question. Staff can add notes to support the rationale for coding decisions. The notes are visible in the RAPs and CAPs.

  • Auto-fill K3a/b question of MDS? - Select option. If Yes, these MDS questions autopopulate based on weight exceptions generated.

  • Auto-Fill P1b (A & B) of MDS? - Select option. If Yes, these MDS questions autopopulate from the Therapy Minutes module.

  • Use Full Form when completing Quarterly assessments? (Ontario facilities only) - Select option. If Yes is selected, the full Quarterly assessment is available. If No is selected, sections D and L are omitted from the Quarterly assessment. Best practice is to select Yes.

Scheduling Options

  • Show assessment due in next - Type the number of days. The is the default setting for the Scheduled tab of the MDS Portal.

  • Enable Rug Optimizer? - Select option. If Yes, staff can view predicted RUG values for a range of ARDs, using ADL data collected through POC and the Therapy Minutes module.

  • Admission Full MDS Scheduler Due Dates

    • The ARD displayed on the MDS Scheduler is - Type the information.

    • The R2B displayed on the MDS Scheduler is - Type the information.

  • Full Annual MDS Scheduler Due Dates

    • The ARD displayed on the MDS Scheduler is - Type the information.

    • The R2B displayed on the MDS Scheduler is - Type the information.

  • Quarterly MDS Scheduler Due Dates

    • The ARD displayed on the MDS Scheduler is - Type the information.

    • The R2B displayed on the MDS Scheduler is - Type the information.

Diagnosis Options

  • Enable MDS Diagnosis Wizard? - Select option. If Yes, the Diagnosis Wizard appears when a diagnosis that is not in the resident's chart, is selected in section I of the MDS. The Diagnosis can be added through the Wizard, or a notification or reminder can be generated.

  • Launch Diagnosis Wizard on Signing of section I? - Select option. If Yes, the Diagnosis Wizard appears when section I is signed. If No, the Diagnosis Wizard appears when the MDS is locked.

RAPS Options

  • Enable option to Automatically Sign RAPS? - Select option. Best practice is to select No.

  • Use Existing RAP Standard Statement? (Ontario facilities only) - Select option. If Yes, a Use Standard Statement link appears in the triggered RAP if it is an existing RAP, and the MDS is a Quarterly.

  • Use RAPS Module - Select option. If Narrative is selected, RAPs contain a text box for working the RAP. If New RAPS Worksheet is selected, RAPs contain a worksheet, including management cues and guidelines.

  • Require all items to be answered before RAPS can be completed? - Select option.

  • Require users to sign off on non-triggered RAPS (appears if New RAPS Worksheet is selected) - Select option.

  • Show MDS Notes on Printable View of RAPS? - Select option.

  • Record referrals on RAP Worksheets (appears if New RAPS Worksheet is selected) - Select option. If Yes, RAPs contain a separate text box for recording referrals.

  • Allow users to combine RAPS? (appears if New RAPS Worksheet is selected) - Select option. If Yes, documentation can be combined for two RAPs which are closely related.

CAPS Options

  • Enable option to include CAPS? - Select option.

  • Include CAPS in MDS with an Effective Date on or after - Type the information.

  • Require all items to be answered before CAPS can be completed? - Select option.

  • Show MDS Notes on Printable View of CAPS? - Select option.

  • Require users to sign off on non-triggered CAPS - Select option.

Provincial Rug Options

  • Case Mix Model - Select option.

  • Calculation Method - Select option.

Kardex Report Options

  • Include No and Zero responses? - Select option. If Yes, the Kardex Report includes MDS questions with none or zero responses.
