Completing the EHR Diet Order Mapping

After you complete the EHR Diet Order Mapping, the resident's diet order(s) in PointClickCare flow and update the resident's diet order in Nutrition Management. Basically, you are connecting the dots between PointClickCare and Nutrition Management. For example, you define No Added Salt (NAS) in PointClickCare is the same as NAS in Nutrition Management.

You must complete the EHR Diet Order Mapping before Diet Order Integration is enabled by a PointClickCare representative.

A Nutrition Management user with Administrator access must assign the EHR Mapping role to designated user(s) at your facility. Only assign the role to staff who understand the importance of completing the mapping. If mistakes are made, it could impact resident safety. 

Note

The Electronic Health Record (EHR) Diet Type, Texture, and Fluid Consistency must be typed exactly as they appear in PointClickCare. You must match capitalization, spaces, extra characters, and so on.

This process consists of multiple steps.

Enabling EHR Mapping role

  1. Administrator tab > Users.

  2. Select User Name, then click Edit.

  3. Select EHR Mapping User Role.

Completing EHR Diet Order Mapping

  1. Administrator tab > EHR Diet Order Mapping.

  2. Select one of the following. Repeat the steps for each item.

    • Diet Type

    • Textures

    • Fluid Consistency

  3. Click Add > type the name of the EHR Order Pick Lists item(s).

  4. For each pick list item added, click the Search icon and select the applicable Special Diet(s) and/or Texture.

  • You can copy paste the names of the Diet Types, Diet Textures, and Fluid Consistencies from PointClickCare Setup - Pick Lists into the EHR Diet Order Mapping after you click Add. Each entry needs to be on a new row.

    1. Do one of the following:

      • Single facilityClinical > Setup > Orders > Pick Lists.

      • Multi-facility: Management Console > Care Management > Physician Orders > Pick Lists.

    2. Click Diet Type, Diet Texture, or Fluid Consistency.

    3. Click Printable View, then copy and paste the list into a word document.

    4. Copy only the Pick List Description column in PointClickCare EHR.

    5. In Nutrition Management EHR Diet Order Mapping, click Add for Diet Type, Diet Texture, or Fluid Consistency.

    6. Paste the Pick List Description, then click Save.

  • If you map to an inactive Texture or Special Diet in Nutrition Management, you must go to Administrator tab, then select Textures or Special Diets. Locate the Texture(s) or Special Diet(s), select active, then click Close
