Editing a Quality Improvement Project (QIP) – Plan

Several categories within an active QIP need to be edited to work through and complete the QIP process. You can navigate through the categories using the Problem solving model PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) by editing the information in the subcategories.

  1. Analytics >QIP > click the QIP Title.

Plan

  • Opportunity - Populated with information added during the creation process. Information can be changed during the editing process.

  • Team - Allows you to define the team of individuals pertinent to the PIP.

  • Analysis - Allows you to evaluate why the problem exists (root cause analysis).

  • Aims - Allows you to set a measurable goal.

    • Select View to open details of that Goal. Clicking the Goal link name also opens details of that goal.

  • Start Date can change date, 1 year previous is maximum.

  • Removed team members retain view access to QIP and can be reactivated.

  • Aim - Initial Value-Numerical (Initial value auto-populates for QIPs created from the QI).

  • A removed Aim can be viewed or Activated.

  • Instructions and hints remains on the right side of the page throughout the QIP creation and when editing under the Plan category to cue QIP users about how to complete the fields, including links to QIP and QAPI tools.

  • The role of facilitator initially appears as the creator of the QIP, but can be edited.
