Resident Header

The Resident Header appears under the Admin and Clinical tabs, in addition to Point of Care (POC) and eMAR applications. It is an area where resident-related information is listed. The information shown is based on security permissions to the clinical information. It can be collapsed or expanded to show additional information.

The Resident Header shows the following information in the collapsed view including:

  • Resident Photo.

  • Name and (Resident #).

  • Status and Location.

  • Gender and Date of Birth (DOB).

  • Physicians.

The Resident Header can be expanded to view the following additional information:

  • Admission (Re-Entry), Initial Admission Date.

  • Health Card Number.

  • Enterprise ID # (if applicable).

  • Discharge Date.

The Resident Header also shows Clinical Information depending on security permissions:

  • Current Vitals (not available from Admin tab).

  • Allergies.

  • Code Status.

  • Special Instructions.

  • Diet.

  • Diagnosis (Primary).

From PointClickCare (not POC or eMAR) you can also:

Edit various items regarding the resident including:

  • Demographics.

  • Photo.

  • Care Profile.

Print various items regarding the resident including:

  • Audit Demographics.

  • Generate CCD.

See a Conversations area for:

  • Secure Conversations currently active for the resident.

  1. From the Admin or Clinical tab, eMAR or POC, click a Resident's Name to open a chart.

  2. To expand the Resident Header, click the Grey/Bottom section.

  3. To collapse the Resident Header, click the Grey/Bottom section again.

  • From PointClickCare, you can switch from Admin to Clinical and back again when you are in a resident's chart by clicking the Admin or Clinical tab. It allows you to remain in that resident's chart, and either opens the default tab of that chart or the tab where you last were within Admin or Clinical.

  • Expand and collapse the resident header by clicking the (3 white lines) in the bottom middle of the resident header. If you expand the header, it remains expanded when you navigate elsewhere in PointClickCare until it is collapsed again.

  • Resident's preferred name appears next to Name and Resident # if applicable.

  • Code Status shows any Advanced Directives for the resident.

  • Diet shows active diet orders.

  • Only multi-facility organizations with MPI enabled see Enterprise ID# in this resident header.

  • Clicking on the Conversations area shows Secure Conversations actively taking place for the resident. Collapse by clicking in the Conversations section.

  • Audit Demographics is not an option available to all facilities.

  • You must have the appropriate security permissions to edit and print as well as view the clinical information appearing in the header.

  • You must have the appropriate security permission to access the Admin, Clinical, POC and eMAR modules.

  • Secure Conversations, POC, and eMAR features are separate subscriptions.

Resident Header Security

Security permissions exist in the Admin, Clinical, POC, and eMAR modules that can allow or restrict information on the Resident Header.

Admin, Clinical, POC and eMAR modules have the following permissions:

Standard Resident Header (parent function) = Yes/ No/ Custom - controls access to the Resident Header and information

  • Vitals (not for Admin module) - controls access to viewing the Vitals information.

  • Allergies - controls access to viewing allergies information.

  • Code Status - controls access to viewing Advanced Directives information.

  • Special Instructions - controls access to viewing Special Instructions from Care Profile if entered.

  • Diet - controls access to viewing Diet information.

  • Diagnosis - controls access to viewing Primary Diagnosis information.

Any existing security roles with Clinical module permissions apply the following rules for the information shown on the new Resident Header:

  • If Clinical tabs > Weights/Vitals = Read or higher, then Standard Resident Header > Vitals = Yes.

  • If Clinical tabs > Resident Allergies = Read or higher, then Standard Resident Header > Allergies = Yes.

  • If Clinical tabs > Orders = Yes, then Standard Resident Header > Code Status and Diet = Yes.

  • If Clinical tabs > Medical Diagnosis = Read or higher, then Standard Resident Header > Diagnosis = Yes.

  • If Edit Care Profile = Read or higher, then Standard Resident Header > Special Instructions = Yes.

Any existing security roles with POC module permissions apply the following rules for the information shown on the new Resident Header:

  • If POC > POC Application (touch screen interface) = Read or higher, then Standard Resident Header > Allergies and Diet = Yes.

Any existing security roles with eMAR module permissions apply the following rules for the information shown on the new Resident Header:

  • If eMAR > Med Pass Administration = Yes, then Standard Resident Header > Allergies, Diet and Code Status = Yes.
