IMM - Messages Overview

When PointClickCare is integrated with a pharmacy, communication between the pharmacy and PointClickCare occurs in the form of electronic messages. For example, when a pharmacy order is saved in PointClickCare, an automatic outbound New Pharmacy Order message goes to pharmacy to communicate that new order. When the pharmacy processes the order and packages the medication/supply for delivery to the facility an inbound Dispense message is sent from the pharmacy to PointClickCare. As the messages are transmitted back and forth, the medication moves through various statuses within the application. Users can view messages in two different places within the application.

  • Within the Orders Portal the Message Queue view lists all the messages sent and received for the facility. There are filter options to view specific message types, messages associated with specific residents or messages over a specific time period.

  • Within the Orders tab of the resident chart, click the + sign next to any order to expand the order view. Click the messages link in the window to view any messages that are sent or received about that specific order.
