Manually Entering Laboratory Results

You can manually add laboratory results to a resident's health record to improve efficiency and quality of care through streamlined access to information. This is completed in 3 steps which include Entry, Specimen Details and Recording Results. This also allows results to be trended across time to help identify clinically significant occurrences in a resident's condition.

Multiple tests can be run from the same specimen sample. Entering the specimen details saves the information as part of the test in the system.

Step 1:

  1. Facility > Clinical > Resident > Results.

  2. Complete the information in each field in the New Report section.

  3. Attach any file on your desktop by clicking Browse or Choose File.

    Note

Information entered must match the hard copy of the original report.

Step 2:

  1. After Entering the identifying information for manually entered laboratory results, move to the section Specimen Details and complete the fields found there.

  2. Specimen Information entered is included in the test results. The edit link to the right of the Specimen information allows you to update the information if needed (i.e., if another test is being added that wasn't completed using that specimen).

Step 3:

  1. Click Add Detail to select from the list.

  2. Add Panel and Add Test as required.

  • Only 1 file can be uploaded per record. You can upload BMP, DOC, DOCX, GIF, HTML, JPEG, JPG, PDF, PJPEG, PNG, RTF, TXT, WPD, XLS, XLSX and XML.

    • Critical - If there is at least one critical result in the report, then Flag is Critical. Indicated by a Red Circle.

  • Status:

    • Resulted - If there is at least one test with a status of Pending in the report (regardless of the status of other tests in the same report), then Status is Resulted.

    • Completed - If all tests in the report are Final or Corrected, then Status is Completed.

    • Cancelled - If all tests in the report are Invalid, then Status is Cancelled.
