Reviewing Admin and Clinical Setup for eMAR

There are sections of Admin and Clinical Setup that must be reviewed as part of eMAR Setup, to confirm the accuracy of the settings and maximize the functionality of the module.

Admin Setup
  • Security Users - Ensure users have initials added to their profile. Initials appear on the printed administrations records.

  • Resident Identifiers - Coordinate with pharmacy for which Resident Identifiers need to be made mandatory.

  • Review Units/Floors - Ensure Units and Floors are setup properly in the system. Floor one should be available even if only one floor in the the building. This impacts the Standard Assignment Group and the eMAR.

  • Review Room Listing - Ensure Units and Floors are assigned to each room. This impacts the Standard Assignment Group and the eMAR.

Clinical Setup
  • Electronic Signature Options - Review eMAR setting. Electronic Signature Configuration settings can force the use of a password and physical piece of identification when documenting in eMAR. Review local regulations for electronic signatures before making configuration decisions. If a change to the current setting is required, a PointClickCare must complete the setting change.

  • Strike Out Pick List - Review strike out options as needed based on the organizations reasons for striking out eMAR documentation. 

  • Enable Drug Image - Review Orders Configuration setting to determine if the drug images are visible in the eMAR.

  • Enable Inline eMAR Receiving - Review Orders Configuration setting to allow for receiving of pharmacy supplies from additional areas of eMAR. 

  • Barcode Medication Scanning - Review Orders Configuration setting to allow barcode administration for medications. 

    Note

    Non-integrated facilities must scan each medication supply received from pharmacy to link barcodes before scanning to document in eMAR.

  • Progress Note Configuration - Confirm setting for this eMAR's Default PN Type. 

  • Standard Dashboard Layouts - Confirm applicable dashboard items are selected for the appropriate positions.
