Adding Rules to a Question

After questions are added to an assessment, you can add rules for certain question types. Rules can improve consistency and workflow within an assessment.

There are several rule types.

Error - The response must be amended before the assessment can be locked.
Disable - The response disables another question. The question appears, but a response cannot be selected.
Show/Hide - The response causes another question to appear.
Warning - The response must be amended or the warning must be acknowledged before the assessment can be locked.
Autopopulate - The response autopopulates a response to another question within the assessment (including a multi-section assessment).

Do one of the following:
- Single facility: Clinical > Setup > Custom Assessments.
- Multi-facility: Management Console > Standards > Care Management > Custom Assessments.
Click edit for the assessment
- If in a multi-section assessment, click edit for the section you want to add a question rule to.
Click rules for the question > select Rule.
Select response(s) for this question.
Click search icon > select another question > select response(s) for this question.
Complete the remaining fields, if applicable.
- Enforce Inverse - Allows the rule to work in the reverse direction also.
- Narrative Text - You can enter custom text that appears if this rule is triggered. Max characters 1500.
Click Save.

The rules link for the question turns red after a rule is added.
When printing an assessment in the Custom Assessments Library, questions appear with (S) if they are part of a Show/Hide rule.
