Creating a Rate Entry

Rate History identifies the resident's primary payer according to an effective date. The resident's rate or reimbursement show by daily or month amounts based on your organizations requirements. You create a rate line if you are making a change to the resident's room rate or care level. In addition, you can change status, payer setup, and change a standard rate to a custom rate.

A quick view of the payer setup is available from Rate History, as well as a direct link to the payer setup if changes are required. If the rate history line is independent of a census line, you can edit from the rate history line. If a rate history line is associated (not independent) to a census line, you can only view the rate line and not edit. You edit from the census entry. This prevents a rate line associated to a census line from being deleted or edited.

Warning

A pink rate line indicates an invalid rate and causes billing errors. You must correct pink rate lines.

You cannot edit the effective date in rate history. If you enter the date incorrectly, you must delete the line and re-create the entry.

You cannot change the primary payer from a rate entry. You must create a census entry to change the primary payer,

Note

You select Use Last Known Payer Setup file when no change is needed to the resident’s payer setup information.

It is not recommended to change the status in rate history unless for billing purposes. Changes to the resident status should be completed as a census line.
