Creating and Managing Alternates To

You can tailor menu choices for Non Select residents by manually assigning alternate menu items to a main choice menu item.

  1. Menus > Menu Builder > Display Menu.

  2. Click the Alternate icon for desired main choice menu item.

  • Optional Item - Don't hold meal order if unsuitable/disliked - Select option. This is used when an Alternate Item is not required. For example, for sauces where an alternate sauce is not required and you do not want the system to hold the meal just because a resident does not like the sauce.

  • Add - Opens the Add Alternates screen.

    1. Select the Course(s). For Example, Breakfast Entrees and or Always Available.

    2. Click the + for the menu item(s) you want to add as the alternate(s).

    3. Click Close.

  • View Spread - Allows you to compare the Therapeutic Spread of the main choice item to all alternates defined. You can modify menu item details, portion, or replacements for main choice menu item, however you cannot edit therapeutic spread or alternate(s).

  • Up and Down arrows - You can change the order of the alternate menu items by dragging and dropping the menu item in the list. When the main menu item is unsuitable, the system looks for a suitable alternate in the order defined.

  • If alternate Menu Items are included in the Course and listed just below the main choice, you can use the Alternate icon in the Course header to auto suggest alternates for that day only in that Course.

  • If a menu item is grayed out in the course, it may be an Every Day or All Meals item. These items can only be edited when you click Every Day day option and/or All Meals meal option.

  • Removing the main choice designation for a menu item also removes all its assigned alternates.

  • Select Legend for details on the different colored Alternate icons.
