Command Buttons, Toggle Buttons, and Links on the Journal Entry Detail Screen

Command buttons are located on the menu bar. Not all the buttons are always active and some change their name depending on the function you are performing.

In the top section, a toggle button assigned to Effective Date to allow you to remember the effective date for the next journal entry(s) in the batch until you close the batch. Command Links are also positioned to the left or right of some fields. The features of each command button, toggle button and link are explained below.

  1. COMMAND BUTTONS

    • Previous - Click to go to the previous journal entry in the batch. This button is only active when there is more than one entry in the batch.

    • Next - Click to go to the next entry in the batch. This button is only active when there is more than one entry in the batch.

    • Clear - Click to clear the all the data entered in all fields. This button is active only while you are in "entry mode".

    • Delete - Click to delete the entry and close the window, taking you back to the G/L Batch Entry listing screen. This button is active only when you have saved an entry or are browsing through the entries using the previous and next buttons.

    • Save & Close - Clickto save your entry and close the window, taking you back to the G/L Batch Entry listing screen.

    • New - Click when you have saved your entry (by clicking Save) and want to enter another journal entry.

    • Save & New - Click to save your entry and continue to enter another new entry. When you have successfully saved your entry, the system shows the following message: 'Save Successful!" in the new Journal Entry screen.

    • Close - Click to close the Invoice Entry Screen. NOTE - you lose any changes you have made, if you did not Save them.

    • Insert Line - Click to insert a new account distribution line above the line that the cursor is positioned or at the end if the cursor is not on an account distribution line.

  2. TOGGLE BUTTONS

    • Click Toggle to enable the "remember" functionality for the Effective Date field, if you want the system to use the same effective dates for subsequent entries. The "Remember" toggle remains enabled until it is disabled. To disable the button, click again. When enabled, the button is green in color. 

  3. LINKS

    • del all - delete all the distribution lines.

    • del - delete only that distribution line.

    • add - add an additional distribution line.
