Logging In and Out of the Point of Care (POC) Kiosk

POC allows you to electronically document daily care provided to residents. You can log into POC from a kiosk. If accessible from your kiosk, you can also login directly from PointClickCare, allowing full access to the EHR.

Logging out ensures your session is securely closed.

Note

If you do not document and save within a specified period of time, you are automatically logged out of the program and any unsaved information or documentation is lost.

Logging In

  1. From the POC login screen, select your method of login: Keyboard Entry, Barcode Entry, or Swipecard Entry.

    Note

You can also access POC directly from the PointClickCare web program: Clinical > POC.

  2. Use the Shift key on the keyboard to type special characters.

  3. Click Login.

If you have access to multiple facilities and need to select a different facility, click Change Facility > select facility.

Note

Before documenting, review the shift, date, assignment or unit, and position. If this information is incorrect, click Edit Assignment or Change Date.

Logging Out

  • Click the door icon.

Hiding the Screen

You can hide the screen if you need to be away from the screen for a short time, such as when approached by a family member. Hiding the screen makes it more difficult for others to access resident information and lets other staff know the kiosk is in use.

Note

Hiding the screen does not provide as much protection as logging out. Anyone who knows that clicking the orange circle shows the screen can see the chart you are working on without entering login information. It is strongly recommended that you select the proper action, hiding or logging out, for your situation.

  1. Click the gold padlock icon to hide the screen.

  2. Click the orange circle to show the screen.
