Completing Progress Note Configuration

This screen contains configuration settings for Progress Notes. You can set up default parameters for progress notes and select which type of Progress Note Type defaults when creating a progress note. This assists in defaulting to a consistent Progress Note Type based on the location of the application you are in when creating a progress note.

Note

Create the Progress Note Templates and Progress Note Types before completing the Progress Note Configuration.

  1. Single Facility: Clinical > Setup > Progress Notes > Progress Note Configuration.

  • Late Entry Grace Period (hrs) - Select the minimum number of hours between the effective date/time and created date/time of the progress note that would constitute a late entry for your organization.  PointClickCare automatically indicates Late Entry in front of any note with the difference in time between effective date/time and creation date/time greater than up to 24 hrs. 

  • Auto Populate Quarterly Summary For - Leave blank, as this field is no longer applicable.

  • Auto Populate Care Plan Review Date into Quarterly Summary - Leave blank, as this field is no longer applicable.

  • Default PN Type - Select Progress Note Type automatically selected when a user creates a Progress Note from the Progress Notes section of the chart. Best practice recommendation to keep as **SELECT APPROPRIATE TYPE** to enforce selection of appropriate type at time of progress note entry.

  • The following options allow a Progress Note Type that is automatically selected when a user creates a Progress Note from:

    • Weights and vitals Default PN Type - Select option.

    • Care Plan and Task Default PN Type - Select option.

    • Orders Default PN Type - Select option.

    • Laboratory Default PN Type - Select option.

    • Radiology Default PN Type - Select option.

    • Resident Scheduling Default PN Type - From Resident Event Calendar areas.

  • Include Draft Progress Notes on Shift Report - Select if you want incomplete (draft) progress notes to appear on your facility's shift reports.

  • Display all progress note text on Summary Reports - Select if you want the entire progress note to appear on the reports. If no, only the first couple of sentences appear. 

  • Use Electronic Signature - Select if you want users to enter their password upon completion of each progress note to confirm the user's identity.
