Closing Trust at Month End

Because the TRUST module should be operating in sync with your actual banking, you should endeavour to close TRUST as close to midnight on the last day of the calendar month as possible - just as your local bank is doing. Of course, that isn't likely possible, so closing TRUST usually happens just before or after the calendar month end.

You may want to halt further entries on the afternoon of the last calendar day - to give you time to visit the bank to acquire the monies necessary to replenish the CASH BOX - or you may address the TRUST CLOSE a day or 2 into the new calendar month. Be aware that if you wait, the TRUST environment does not allow any POSTING outside the current system month you're in. You can only POST to the current (TRUST) system month showing on your system.

You want to keep your reconciliation differences with your Trust bank, to a minimum. Keeping in sync with the bank month end schedule helps a great deal.

  • To minimize the differences between your Trust bank, and your PointClickCare Trust activities, emulate the "calendar end" close that the bank will be doing, as closely as possible.

  • After the Trust period is CLOSED, it cannot be re-opened.

  • You must have a security role with appropriate rights to see both the TRUST. The (delivered) Admin (User) role provides that access. See your local Security Administrator if you require changes to your Security privileges.
