Secure Conversations Overview

Nurses and practitioners often use mobile devices as a timely and efficient communication method. However, using mobile devices still means it is imperative that patient health information accessed, communicated, and shared among staff is secured and protected according to the various HIPAA, PIPEDA personal health information protection legislation.

The Secure Conversations allows for users to communicate within the PointClickCare web application as well as external to the application via the PointClickCare Secure Conversations mobile apps for iOS or Android in a secured, HIPAA/PIPEDA compliant manner.

Various types of conversations include resident-centric, general within the facility, and general across multiple facilities of your organization to allow for rapid communication between staff.

PointClickCare Web Application

With the appropriate setup and security, you see 4 new areas in the PointClickCare application including a new Home area pane, Message Bubble in the top right of the application visible from anywhere, a new Clinical Dashboard pane and access to active Conversations from the Resident header. These areas can create new conversations, send and receive messages, and complete other actions. Depending on security you can participate in Resident-centric, General and Cross-Facility Conversations.

PointClickCare Secure Conversations Mobile Apps

The Secure Conversations mobile apps can enhance use across your organization by allowing users with appropriate security permission to use the Secure Conversations mobile app for iOS or Android devices. These apps can be used for resident specific, general or cross-facility conversations to communicate with others in a timely manner while remaining HIPAA/PIPEDA compliant. The Secure Conversation mobile app is available for iOS iPhone or iPad and Android phone devices.

Practitioner Engagement Mobile App

Secure Conversations are accessible from the Practitioner Engagement mobile app, if your facility subscribes to Practitioner Engagement and Secure Conversations, users with permission can access Secure Conversations features without leaving the app. The Practitioner Engagement mobile app is available for iOS iPhone or iPad.

  • Your facility and users must have appropriate security permissions and setup to participate in Secure Conversations within the PointClickCare web application.

  • Mobile device users must be setup appropriately to access from mobile apps.
