Discontinuing Multiple Orders

You can discontinue a batch of orders for a particular resident. You can make many changes to multiple orders of a particular resident at the same time.

  1. From the Orders tab in the clinical chart, Click Batch Update.

  2. Click Discontinue.

    Optional: Type or select the date the orders were discontinued.

    Optional: Select the time the orders were discontinued.

  3. Select Communication Method based on how the discontinued orders were acquired.

  • The resident's name is at the top of the page for you to review to ensure you are discontinuing medication for the right resident.

  • The blue and green arrow icons identify the fields that are communicated to pharmacy.

  • The clear link resets the communication method selection to blank.

  • Change the Ordered By field if you acquired the discontinue orders from another practitioner.

  • The primary physician name always appears to the right of the Ordered By field.

  • Click the + Batch Filter Options filter to narrow down order summary listing.

  • After the orders are discontinued, they no longer appear in the list of orders. The original orders now have a status of discontinued, and can be viewed using the 'Display Filters'.

  • You must have the Discontinue Order security access to discontinue orders.

  • Prescriber Entered option is only available to select if your security access identifies you as a practitioner.

  • Prescriber Written option is only selected if you are transcribing a written order provided by a practitioner.
