MDS 2.0 - Clinical Dashboard - Clinical Alerts

The Clinical Alerts pane on the Clinical Dashboard shows notifications generated from multiple areas in PointClickCare. These “high risk” alerts indicate a change or event requiring timely attention/intervention. MDS questions can trigger high risk alerts for specific responses.

  1. In the Dashboard pane, hover over Clinical > Care Management > Dashboard.

  2. Locate Clinical Alerts pane.

  3. Options / Actions:

    • Show Alerts in Last - select option from the list.

    • Sort By - select Date or Resident Name. Repeat occurrences of the same alert for the same resident are grouped. Click the + to view the collapsed information.

    • Clinical Alerts Listing Report – select this option for a printable view based on the selected filters.

    • Select view link if available to see details for the alert.

    • Click Clear Alerts after selecting one or more alerts. Message appears. Click OK to confirm. The alert(s) is/are cleared, and your name is recorded for the action.

    • Click New Alert to manually create an alert from this dashboard pane.

  • Be careful of using Check All and Clear Alerts – clearing an alert does not have an undo option and your user name is recorded for each action.

  • The Clinical > Reports > Alert Listing report provides more criteria and filters, for example. filtering by Unit/Floor.

  • Click the Resident Name link to open the dash tab of the selected resident’s chart. The Alerts pane for that specific resident appears.

  • MDS questions must be configured to trigger high risk alerts (Clinical > Setup > MDS Triggers).

  • If you do not have security to edit your dashboard layout, this pane may need to be added to a dashboard layout for you. Contact your System Administrator.
