Message Lifespan Expiry

Secure Conversations allows for HIPAA-/PIPEDA-compliant conversations between health care professionals about resident data and personal health information. Any Secure Conversation message or conversation expires X days after it is sent based on your system configuration for Message Lifespan. After a message exceeds the lifespan, the conversation expires and is no longer retrievable or viewable.

Messages and conversations are not saved permanently as communications or as part of the legal record. If you want to make any information discussed as part of the Secure Conversation and the Resident, make an entry in the resident chart to become part of the legal record, for example, in a progress note.

  • This Message Lifespan expiry applies across all applications where Secure Conversations is accessed and applies to all types of Conversations, Resident-centric, General and Cross-Facility.
