Versioning a Document Manager Template

You can use Version Template to update a template's file and to update signer roles for an e-signature template. An Effective From date field identifies when the Template can be used. To Expire the Version Template, you can enter an Effective To date.

Versioning maintains the Name, Signature Type, Category, Due Date, and Scope.

Use Copy Template, Copying Document Manager Templates if these fields required updating.

Warning

If you use replace file on the new version of an e-signature type template, review the template to verify the format was maintained and make updates if needed.

If you add to or remove signer roles of an e-signature type template, you are required to create a new signature layout or delete the signature layout on the new, uploaded file.

  1. Click Name.

  2. Click New Version.

  • You can use the Copy Template option on an Expired Version when there isn't an Active or Future Version.

  • You can use the New Version option on the Version with the newest Effective From date regardless of the Status.

  • A Version Template updates a Packet automatically.

  • The Template List shows the Active Version of a template.

  • The Template List shows the Expired Version when there is no Past Version.

  • The Template List shows the Future Version when there is no Active Version.

  • In Template Details, the Versions section opens to the Active Version by Effective Date. If there is no Active Version, the Expired or Future Version opens.

  • You can make a New Version from the latest Version Template.

  • If you edit the layout of an attached file and replace the template file, the file layout is preserved.

  • If the file changes are significant, it may require adjusting the fields.
