Managing Standard Time Codes

Standard Time Codes are the times or shifts that medications are to be administered and can be configured for your organization. You can create Standard Time Codes for use in your medication administration.  When entering orders you can select the time code based on the assigned frequency.

The same Standard Time Code can be created multiple times but scoped differently. For example, Twice Daily 0900 - 1700 Corporate, 0800 - 1600 Skilled Facility and 0700 - 1500 Ocean Vista Rehab. The Standard Time Code must be unique for each scope.

Note

A system facility time code: ‘ADBP’ - As Dictated by Pharmacy is in place in all Orders Management databases. This time code only appears on an inbound order that is created from the pharmacy and the pass time is dictated by the pharmacist. When the system identifies that pass times are added by the pharmacist, “As dictated by Pharmacy” appears in the Facility Time Code field. You can confirm the order at the facility or change the pass times by selecting a different Facility Time Code. The time code is scoped to Facility in single facility databases and scoped to Corporate in multi-facility databases. Corporately scoped time codes have a facilities link. Because the time code is not attached to a standard frequency, you do not have access to select the time code of ADBP.

Warning

After saving, the Standard Time Code and options cannot be changed.

Ranges must be created in Standard Shifts before creating time codes.

  1. Do one of the following:

    • Single facility: Clinical > Setup > Standard Time Codes

    • Multi-facility: Management Console > Standards > Care Management > Standard Time Codes

  2. Enter Code.

  3. Enter Description.

  4. Select an appropriate Standard (system) Frequency.

  5. Select one of the following options: After selecting option, select the Number of. For example 4x/day = Specific Time and Number of Times = 4, Day/Evening = QShift and Number of Shifts = 2.

    • Specific Time and Number of Times - specific time of day i.e. 0800.

    • QShift and Number of Shifts - to be administered at least one time per defined/selected standard shift but can be administered multiple times with no limit.

    • Time Range and Number of Ranges - administration can only be administered one time within defined/selected standard shift.

  6. Select Scope.

  7. Select the times or ranges to associate to the Standard Time Code and Save.

    • When completing a facility scoped item, select the unit that this Standard Time Code applies to.

  8.  Select the facilities link to note the facilities that can use this Standard Time Code and Save.

  • The scope (up or down) of an existing time code (specific time, qshift or time range) can only be changed if there are no orders associated with the time code.

  • All qX hour time codes for specific times (q12h at 0800 and 2000 and q12h at 0900 and 2100) need to be created individually. At the order entry level the times cannot be changed.
