PRN Schedules

For orders received that require administration or documentation on an as-needed basis. These PRN schedules can be combined with other schedules for a single order.

PRN schedules allow for orders that were given as simple prn or prn every X hours or minutes.

PRN orders can have a specific duration period or continue indefinitely depending on what the order indicates. All orders with an end date that is not indefinite, can be marked to Require Reassessment, which sends an alert to the Orders Alerts panes on the Clinical and Resident Dashboards.

Indefinite

  • Continue the order to be scheduled indefinitely until the order is changed to indicate otherwise.

Specific Date

  • Continue the order until a specific date and time.

Duration

  • Allow for the order to be scheduled for a specific number of days, weeks, or months and shows the end date based on the duration entered.

  • Select to administer until the schedule is finished.

  • Select to require a reassessment, which prompts an alert to reassess the order after schedule completion.
