MDS 2.0 - Submissions - Revise Recorded Results

You can revise an MDS in a batch to change its status from Accepted to Rejected (or vice versa) if the result was recorded in error. This action should not be done routinely because the results of a batch submitted must be recorded correctly based on the Detailed Submission Report received from CIHI.

  1. If you are unsure of the batch number that the MDS was submitted in, verify this by navigating to the MDS tab in the resident’s chart. Click the History link to the left of the MDS that is incorrectly marked as Accepted/Rejected. The batch number appears in the history window that appears. Use this information to locate the batch within the MDS Portal.

  2. Hover over the Clinical tab.

  3. Under the Care Management section, click MDS to access the MDS Portal. Click the Batches tab to access.

  4. In the MDS Submission Batches section, find the batch number you are looking for. If you do not see the batch you are looking for, select View All just above the list of batches.

  5. Click View next to the batch that contains the MDS that was incorrectly recorded.

  6. From the Accepted Batch Results screen, find the appropriate assessment and click Revise next to the assessment.

  7. Click OK to revise the status. At the prompt, click OK. Note the status change to Rejected or Accepted based on what it was originally, but remains unavailable.

  • If you changed an assessment from Accepted to Rejected, you can click Resubmit Rejected Assessments to pull the assessment into a new batch, or click Back, and create a new batch from the MDS Submission Batches pane (select the Exported Assessments or Export Ready and Exported Assessments to select the assessment).

  • If the MDS is in Accepted status you can also click on the Accepted link in the resident's MDS tab and it opens directly into the batch in the MDS Portal.

  • The Detailed Submission Report and/or the Verification Audit Report (VAR) are CIHI reports that you can use to confirm if the MDS was rejected or accepted. If you have any questions about these reports, contact CIHI.
