Creating Trust Control Accounts

You setup Trust Control Accounts to use the trust module. The Trust Control Accounts record the Bank and Cash Box activity. You can configure more than one bank account, but only one Cash Box control account should be used. To account for all Resident Trust funds, setup a control account for each bank account that holds trust money. The control account defaults are set in the Trust Configuration after you setup the Trust Control Accounts.

Trust Bank is resident money managed by the facility in a bank account seperate from the facility bank. Trust Petty Cash (or Cash box) is resident money held as cash in the cash box, usually in the business office. The Trust Manager or Business Office Manager distributes cash to the residents on request.

You can assign account numbers to the Trust Control accounts. The account numbers are used in the journal entry to report on the net change in the trust balances. You can transfer balances between control accounts in the Trust portal. For example, if you need to increase or decrease the float balance for the Trust Cash Box.

  1. Admin/Billing > Setup > Trust Setup > Control Accounts.

  2. Click New/Add.
