Converting Formulary Files for Import

When a formulary file is received in XLS format, it must be converted and saved to your computer as a CSV or TXT file before it can be imported into a formulary in PointClickCare. The XLS file must meet minimum criteria before converting to CSV or TXT to ensure the import is accepted.

  1. Open Excel Spread Sheet (XLS) and make adjustments as needed based on the requirements here:

    • The NDC/DIN must be in the first column and first row in the XLS file. Anything in fields after the first column are ignored so there is no need to make changes to those fields. It is acceptable to have the drug name listed in the second column.

    • Each NDC/DIN must be on a separate line.

    • The NDC/DIN can contain dashes, but no other characters are accepted.

  2. Click File.

  3. Click Save as.

  4. Give the file a unique name. From the Save as type list, select CSV (comma delimited) or Text (tab delimited).

  5. Click Save. Your file is ready for import.
