Accessing the LTC eConnect Button

After LTC eConnect is enabled by your PointClickCare representative, and your setup is complete, you can access the LTC eConnect button in a resident's chart to view provincial resident health information through your regional viewer.

Note

It is highly recommended to review the Ontario Long-Term Care Association ThoughtWire Browser Configuration Guide before accessing the LTC eConnect button. Chrome is the recommended browser for LTC eConnect.

  1. Log in to PointClickCare using this URL (it is recommended to bookmark this link):

    https://ltceconnect.cust.thoughtwire.com/directory-server/launch?uri=http://thoughtwire.ca/ont/oltca/1.0.0/econnect

    Note

The first time you access this URL:

    • You may be prompted to install the ThoughtWire browser plug in. You need administrative privileges to install.

    • You must review and accept the End User License Agreement in the ThoughtWire-eConnect tab.

Clicking the above link opens two browser tabs: PointClickCare and ThoughtWire-eConnect.

    Important

Keep the ThoughtWire-eConnect tab open for the duration of your session, otherwise you cannot access your regional viewer.

  2. Clinical > Resident chart > click LTC eConnect in header.

  3. In the ONE ID browser tab, select Organization of ONE ID and complete the login process.

    Note

The first time you type your ONE ID credentials on a computer, you must respond to several questions. It is recommended that you do not select 'If you do not want eHealth Ontario to recognize this computer then check the box and click the button below', otherwise you are prompted to respond to the questions every time.

  4. In your regional viewer, complete the waiver for the resident, then view their health information.

  5. To view health information for another resident, navigate to the resident chart in PointClickCare and repeat steps 2 and 4.

  • In your regional viewer, you may see a message regarding a resident's Health Card Number (HCN) or Date of Birth (DOB) that does not match. You must review/amend the resident's demographics in PointClickCare to match the information on file with the Province.

  • LTC eConnect also appears in Home > External Links, however this does not function due to dependencies in the application.
