Creating and Managing Recipe Details

After you add a new recipe, you can enter in the recipe details such as ingredients, sub recipes, ingredient description quantity, and directions. You can enter multiple ingredients in steps, and repeat the process until the recipe is complete. You can convert all ingredient quantities in a selected recipe from conventional to metric units of measure and vice versa. 

Note

Before adding a photo to your recipe, it must be uploaded into your computer. Photo must be .jpeg and no more than 10 MB.

  1. Production > Recipe Builder.

  2. Click Details for specific recipe.

  • Recipe Name edit link - Select option to edit recipe name, category, # of portions, servings per pan, serving size, temperature, or utensils, recipe notes, prep and cook time, and pre-purchased option.

  • Menu Item Links. Menu Items linked to the recipe. You need your menu items to be linked to a recipe to print various recipe reports. 

  • Recipe Photo - Click Change Photo to open file to upload recipe photo.

  • Ingredients - You can free text the name of the ingredient or click Create New. Add additional ingredients in this step if applicable. To start a new step, click on Add Ingredient in next section.

  • Magnifying Glass - You can search for ingredients or add a recipe.

    • Add Recipe - you can search and add a sub recipe. For example, if you have a Chicken A la King recipe and want to add the A la King Sauce in the recipe details section. 

  • Description - A description of the ingredient. For example, chopped.

  • Quantity - Add a quantity and unit if applicable. You can convert ingredient quantities by using the convert units of measure icon for Conventional or Metric.

  • Add Directions - Enter in the directions and click check mark to save.

  • Edit Link in Directions - You can edit the directions.

  • Reorder Ingredients or Directions - Select option. Use the up and down arrows to drag and drop to desired location. You can move within a step or move to a different step.

  • Trash can - Deletes the recipe step, including ingredients and directions.

  • Conversion icon  - Allows you to convert all ingredient quantities in a selected recipe from conventional to metric units of measure or visa versa.

  • A prompt to resize the recipe appears when changing the original number of portions. 

  • Click Legend to view a description of the icons.

  • Click Print to print a single yield recipe, with or without the photo, or resized recipes. Printing a resized recipe does not affect the main recipe. If you have a sub-recipe, it prints to the size of the main recipe.

  • Click Toolbox to view measurement conversion, fraction to decimal equivalents, and scoop size equivalents.

  • Click Duplicate from the Recipe Listing or the duplicate button from within the actual recipe to duplicate a recipe.

  • The recipe details save as you proceed through the steps.

  • You can click on the name of the ingredient in a recipe to view and edit the Ingredient Details.

  • The system adjusts your quantity and unit of measure automatically to ensure that the recipe ingredients use practical units. For example, if you enter in 32 tablespoons of butter, it converts to 2 cups.

  • You can click on a sub-recipe listed as an ingredient to print the sub-recipe without having to leave the current recipe.
