Creating Rate Types

You can access the RATE TYPES area and see what they are used for.

RATE TYPES identify the various codes for each of the accommodation situations in your facility. Generally they could represent Basic, Semi, Private, Custom, 1 Bedroom, Studio and so on.

They are just codes - consisting of a maximum 5 characters, which are defined on your Rate Schedules.

  1. While in the ADMIN module, depending on depending on your Security access, you may or may not see & select SETUP from the menu items. If you do not see it listed as an option, you do not have Security access to perform Set Up functions. See your Security Administrator.

  2. When you select SETUP, the set up options of the ADMIN module appear.

  3. Under the Billing Setup section, select RATE TYPES, to create New Item Types, or edit existing ones. (If you are working with PointClickCare to implement AR, this work is completed for you as part of your AR Configuration, resulting from data collected during the AR Discovery Call).

  4. Although the Description can be detailed, you have only 5 spaces in the Short Description field to capture a meaningful short code.

  5. To use Rate Categories (and they've been defined), they can be associated to the Rate Codes here. This assumes a Private room is going to be billed at a Private rate, for Occupancy purposes.

  • The short description is what is viewable on most reports and lists. Although abbreviated to 5 characters, It should reflect the meaning of the RATE TYPE as much as possible.

  • You must have a security role with appropriate rights to see Set Up on the menu. If you don't see Set Up you don't have access to it. See your local Security Administrator. The delivered Admin Setup role provides this access.
