Creating Care Plan Items

The Care Plan Library is extensive and includes any necessary triggers. Review the available items in each category before adding new Focuses, Etiologies, Goals, Interventions, or Tasks, or editing existing items.

  1. Click categories for the library.

  2. Click items for the focus category.

  3. Click New Focus > complete the fields as required > click Save.

  4. Click New Etiology > complete the fields as required > click Save.

  5. Click New Goal > complete the fields as required > click Save.

  6. Click New Intervention or New Task > complete the fields as required > click Save.

    Note

When you add a new intervention, the predictive text shows interventions with a similar description and the associated focus. You can do one of the following:

    • Select an intervention that already exists to create a new instance of the intervention (to associate with a different focus).

    • Type a different description to create a new intervention.

When you add a new task, the predictive text shows tasks with a similar description and the associated focus, if one applies. You can do one of the following:

    • Select a task that already exists to edit it.

    • Type the same description to create a new instance of the task (to associate with a different focus).

    • Type a different description to create a new task.

  • Allow Multiple Focuses per CP - Select if this focus can be used more than one time in a single care plan. Best practice is to leave this cleared for most focuses. However, there can be instances when an item is needed more than one time in a care plan, for example, to identify multiple different wounds or areas of skin breakdown.

  • Care Plan Type - Select option using the search icon. The care plan types are automatically added when this focus is added as new to a resident's care plan.
